Roughly 1% of the population has a natural metabolism that functions optimally. Unfortunately for you and me, we are not part of that exclusive 1% (but we do know that guy down the street that is part of the 1%, and quite frankly, we hate him). For the rest of us, we have to make the best use of the foods that are healthiest for us.

Here are your basic rules:

1 Start with breakfast. It’s the most important meal of the day.
2 The next 4 meals of the day are only slightly less important, so don’t blow them off.
3 If you see a fish and it’s not fried, stuffed, or breaded, eat it.
4 If you see a fruit or a vegetable, eat it.
5 If you see a bird, eat it.
6 If it’s sold in a box, do NOT eat it.
7 If you buy it at a drive through window and it’s not “grilled chicken, hold the mayo”, do NOT eat it.

Finally, and most important, you are NOT going on a diet, you are making lifestyle eating changes

For the last 20 years I have been a yo yo dieter with little success in keeping my weight on an even keel.
